Dave grew up in Charlotte, and after being gone for 15 years, returned to lead the replant of Oakhurst Baptist Church in late summer of 2015. Prior to his time here at Oakhurst, Dave spent 5 years on staff at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, DC, where he served as an elder and received training under the pastoral mentoring of Pastor Mark Dever. In 2010, Dave founded and directed the ministry of Campus Outreach DC. He led a staff team of 12 to launch campus ministries at George Washington University, Georgetown University, and Howard University. Before moving to DC, he served as a director with Campus Outreach in North Carolina for 10 years, leading a team of staff in evangelizing and discipling students on college campuses in the Triad area.
Dave earned his BA from UNC Charlotte, his Masters of Divinity at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and completed the Pastoral Internship at CHBC. Dave’s past speaking arrangements include the Together For The Gospel 2014 Conference and the 2015 Desiring God Conference for Pastors. He is passionate about the local church, discipling, and evangelism.
He and his wife, Carrie, have four young children and are excited to see all that God does for His glory through this church.
Johnny grew up in the great state of Texas where he was converted through the witness of his father at a young age. After receiving his BS from Dallas Baptist University, Johnny moved to Alexandria, VA and spent four years serving at Del Ray Baptist Church under the leadership of Garrett Kell.
Johnny has a bachelors in Christian Studies, has completed the Pastoral Internship at DRBC, and is finishing up his MDiv at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He and his wife, Christy, have two children. They enjoy hiking, outdoors, and sports together.
Tim is originally from Connecticut, and grew up watching and playing a lot of basketball. He heard the gospel at an early age and turned from his sins to trust Christ. After sensing a call to ministry, he pursued a pastoral internship at Capitol Hill Baptist Church and finished an MA in biblical counseling from Westminister Theological Seminary. He has served with the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF) and 9Marks Ministries, and has a heart for biblical counseling.
He and his wife Jenn have two children, and they enjoy time with friends and exploring Charlotte together.
Thomas is a native North Carolinian who moved to town to attend UNC Charlotte, where he graduated in May of 2015 with a B.S. in Computer Science. Fun fact: He and his wife, Rachel, met here at Oakhurst! Thomas serves our church by leading our Music Ministry.
Matt was born and raised in Greenville, NC and later attended Appalachian State University majoring in Exercise Science and minoring in Religious Studies. After graduating from ASU, he went on to receive a Masters in Sport Management at East Carolina University.
Matt and his wife, Lauren, moved to Charlotte in 2015 to serve full-time with Missionary Athletes International and the Charlotte Eagles. They enjoy being active and serving alongside one another as they raise their three young children. Matt serves Oakhurst as the leader for the Student Ministry.
Cade is originally from Austin, TX. He attended Wheaton College in Illinois, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. More importantly, however, Wheaton is where he met his wife Tess! Cade moved to Charlotte, NC in the summer of 2018 in order to pursue a Master of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary, where he is currently a student. At Oakhurst, he is in charge of administrative tasks in order to take some responsibilities off the pastors plates so they can devote more time to leading the church in teaching/shepherding!
Drew is from Atlanta, GA and went to college in a small town called Milledgeville located in the middle of the state. After graduation in May of 2018 he moved to Charlotte to attend Reformed Theological Seminary to begin the Master of Divinity program. He got married to his wife Sierra in December of 2018 and in April of 2019 they got a puppy! At Oakhurst, he is in charge of administrative tasks in order to take some responsibilities off the pastors plates so they can devote more time to leading the church in teaching/shepherding!
