Oakhurst Baptist Church • 5037 Monroe Road • Charlotte, NC • 28205 • Sundays at 10:30AM

Our Church Covenant says, “We will seek to bring up those under our care in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example will seek the salvation of our family and friends. (Titus 2:1-6, Deut. 6:4-7).” In the spirit of this covenant, OBC Students exists to serve the members of this church by investing spiritually into the lives of our 5th-12th grade students.

Our strategy for Student Ministry is to train our students to center their lives around Christ, his Word, and the local church. We do so through these four avenues:

Sunday Morning Worship at 10:30am

The Christian life is lived out in the context of the local church (Rom. 12:4-5), and the regular assembly for worship is central to that life. We want our students to participate in the Sunday morning worship of this local church. That means coming to worship each sunday, singing loudly, praying together, taking notes during the sermon, and heeding the gospel that’s preached to them and displayed in communion and baptism.

Sunday School in the fall and spring at 9:15am

God’s Word brings life (Psalm 119:40), and the teaching of God’s Word “imparts understanding to the simple” (Psalm 119:130). Our Student Ministry Sunday School class is dedicated to imparting the truth of God’s Word to our students through gospel centered curriculum during the fall and spring semesters.

Sunday Evening Student Ministry at 5:30pm on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the Month

Sunday Evening Student Ministry is another opportunity for our students to hear sound teaching from the Bible, build friendships with other Christian students, and grow in their devotion to Christ.

Student Ministry Events Each Year

We don’t want to be an event driven ministry, but we do recognize the value of common experiences for building friendships and making lasting impressions on our students. Because of this, we want to offer events each year for our students to participate in: “Big Events,” like Summer Camp or Winter Retreats, and “Small Events,” like Fall Bonfires or Spring Ice Cream Socials. Two events that we want to have every year are our Fall Promotion, where we celebrate bringing rising 5th graders into our Student Ministry, and our Spring Graduation, where we celebrate graduating 12th graders leaving the Student Ministry.

For upcoming dates, or changes to our normal schedule, please check the Upcoming Events. For more information about student ministry, connect with Pastoral Assistant, Thomas Green.
